Community guidelines
This forum is for people affected by a bipolar breakup to share what happened and listen to others. It is a moderated peer space, not a clinic or emergency service. You can post with a nickname; stories and replies appear only after human approval.
Be kind and specific
Speak from your own experience. Do not diagnose another member or their partner, prescribe treatment, or claim that all people with bipolar disorder behave alike. Disagree without humiliation, threats or harassment.
Protect privacy
Do not post full names, addresses, phone numbers, workplaces, screenshots of private messages, or details that could identify someone else. Avoid sharing information you would not want visible publicly. Moderators may remove identifying details or reject a post.
No exploitation or promotion
Do not solicit money, sell services, post spam or use the forum to pursue or contact another reader outside the discussion. Never pressure someone to reconcile or leave. Respect a person's stated boundaries.
If someone expresses intent to harm themselves
Take it seriously. If you know the person or their location and believe there is immediate danger, contact their local emergency services. Otherwise encourage them to contact a crisis line or trusted person now; country-specific crisis contacts are listed here. Use “Report post” to alert a moderator too, but do not wait for a report to be reviewed before seeking real-time help. Do not promise to keep a plan to harm someone secret. Avoid debating or trying to act as their clinician in public replies.
Reporting and moderation
Use “Report post” on any story or reply that worries you. You can also write to info@bipolar.today. A human reviews submissions and reports; there is no automated crisis detection or 24-hour emergency monitoring. Moderators may approve, reject or remove content that breaks these rules. Reports are not public. If you are the person in danger, contact emergency services or a crisis line rather than posting here.
